We are currently seeking a skilled and passionate Cheese Maker to join our team and contribute to the production of exceptional cheeses.
As a Cheese Maker, you will play a vital role in the cheese production process, from milk processing to the final cheese product. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality and flavor in our cheeses. Your primary responsibilities will include:
Cheese Production:
Perform all cheese-making activities, including milk processing, curd formation, molding, pressing, salting, aging, and packaging.
Follow established recipes and procedures to create a variety of cheese types, adhering to quality standards and consistency.
Monitor and control temperature, pH, humidity, and other variables during the cheese-making process to achieve desired outcomes.
Conduct sensory evaluations to assess the quality and flavor profiles of cheeses during different stages of production.
Quality Control:
Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure compliance with food safety standards and product specifications.
Perform regular quality checks, such as visual inspection, taste tests, and laboratory analysis, to monitor cheese quality and identify any deviations or issues.
Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to address any quality concerns and implement corrective actions as needed.
Maintain accurate records of production activities, including batch information, ingredients used, and quality control results.
Equipment and Facility Maintenance:
Operate and maintain cheese-making equipment, including vats, curd cutters, presses, and aging chambers.
Clean and sanitize equipment and production areas to ensure a hygienic and safe working environment.
Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with maintenance personnel for repairs and maintenance.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene protocols, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines.
Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations in the cheese production area.
Identify and address potential safety hazards, promptly reporting any incidents or accidents.
High school diploma or equivalent (additional training or certification in cheese-making is a plus).
Proven experience (3-5 years) as a Cheese Maker, preferably in artisanal or specialty cheese production.
In-depth knowledge of cheese-making techniques, processes, and equipment.
Strong understanding of food safety regulations and quality control practices.
Attention to detail and precision in following recipes and procedures.
Ability to assess sensory attributes of cheese, such as taste, texture, and aroma.
Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy objects (e.g., cheese molds, whey containers).
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
