Job Description

Job Summary: The Cost Controller is responsible for overseeing and managing the financial performance of projects, operations, or departments within the organization. They monitor costs, analyze variances, and provide insights to support effective decision-making and cost-efficient operations. The Cost Controller collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure adherence to budgets and financial targets.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement cost control strategies and procedures to monitor and manage project or departmental expenditures.
  • Monitor and track project or operational costs against approved budgets, identifying and addressing cost variances.
  • Collaborate with project managers, department heads, and stakeholders to establish realistic budgets and financial targets.
  • Review and analyze financial data, cost reports, and performance metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Prepare regular cost and budget reports for management, highlighting key insights and recommending corrective actions as needed.
  • Conduct detailed cost analysis to identify cost drivers and areas for cost reduction or optimization.
  • Work closely with procurement teams to evaluate supplier pricing, negotiate contracts, and ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts and projections to support strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls to prevent cost overruns and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Participate in project meetings to provide financial insights, support decision-making, and advise on the cost implications of various actions.
  • Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate allocation and reporting of costs.
  • Identify and communicate potential risks or deviations from the budget to management, along with recommended solutions.
  • Support the development and improvement of cost management tools, processes, and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to cost management.

Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be available in Qatar with valid RP and Transferrable NOC
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; Master's degree or relevant certification is a plus.
  • Proven experience (8 years) in cost control, budgeting, or financial analysis.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis tools, spreadsheet software, and financial management systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Time management skills to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of project management concepts and terminology is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific cost considerations is a plus.
