Job Title: Electrical Technician

An electrical technician with a background in food production would have a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of electrical systems within a food production facility. Their responsibilities would include a range of tasks related to maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing electrical equipment and systems to support the production processes while adhering to relevant safety and regulatory standards. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Regularly inspect, maintain, and repair electrical equipment used in food production, such as conveyor belts, mixers, ovens, refrigeration units, packaging machinery, and more.
  • Diagnose and address electrical malfunctions, failures, and breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
  • Replace faulty components, such as motors, switches, sensors, and circuit boards, and ensure proper calibration.
  • Monitor the performance of electrical systems to identify potential issues, such as power fluctuations, voltage drops, and abnormal heating.
  • Implement preventive maintenance routines to prevent unexpected failures and optimize equipment lifespan.
  • Ensure that all electrical systems and equipment are installed and maintained in accordance with safety codes, regulations, and industry standards to prevent hazards and accidents.
  • Conduct safety inspections and maintain records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations, such as electrical fires, outages, and electrical hazards, to minimize risks and ensure employee safety.
  • Develop and communicate emergency procedures related to electrical incidents.
  • Participate in the installation of new electrical equipment and systems for expansion, upgrades, or new product lines.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to ensure proper integration of new systems into existing infrastructure.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and installations performed on electrical equipment and systems.
  • Update equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for energy conservation and efficiency improvements within the electrical systems.
  • Recommend and implement measures to reduce energy consumption and operational costs.
  • Assist in troubleshooting minor electrical issues that production personnel may encounter during their tasks.
  • Work closely with other departments, such as production, engineering, and quality assurance, to ensure a coordinated approach to maintaining and improving equipment reliability.
  • Stay updated with technological advancements in electrical systems and food production equipment to suggest upgrades or improvements that could enhance productivity and quality.
