Job Summary: The laundry pressing operator is responsible for operating pressing and finishing equipment to remove wrinkles, creases, and ensure a professional finish on garments and linens. They follow established procedures and quality standards to press and fold various items, ensuring a high level of attention to detail and adherence to customer specifications. The laundry pressing operator works collaboratively with other laundry staff to maintain efficiency and productivity in the pressing area.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate pressing and finishing equipment, such as steam irons, pressing machines, or specialized pressing tools, to remove wrinkles and creases from garments and linens.
• Examine each item for specific pressing requirements, fabric sensitivity, and customer specifications.
• Follow established procedures and techniques to achieve a professional finish on different types of fabrics.
• Apply appropriate pressure and steam to remove wrinkles while preserving the integrity of the garment or linen.
• Press and shape collars, cuffs, hems, and other garment details to ensure proper appearance and alignment.
• Fold, stack, or hang pressed items according to organizational standards and customer specifications.
• Inspect pressed items for quality, ensuring they meet established standards and are free from any defects or imperfections.
• Report any issues, damages, or abnormalities in pressed items to the supervisor or quality control team.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks on pressing equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs.
• Collaborate with other laundry staff to ensure smooth workflow, timely pressing, and efficient operations.
• Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Adhere to hygiene and sanitation standards to prevent cross-contamination and maintain cleanliness in the pressing area.
• Assist with other laundry-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor or manager.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Holding a valid RP with transferrable NOC
• Able to join immediately / local applicants are preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience operating pressing and finishing equipment in a laundry or garment industry is preferred.
• Knowledge of different fabric types, their pressing requirements, and sensitivity to heat.
• Familiarity with pressing techniques, garment details, and proper handling to achieve desired results.
• Attention to detail and ability to identify wrinkles, creases, and other pressing issues.
• Physical stamina to handle repetitive tasks and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
• Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Basic knowledge of safety procedures and ability to adhere to safety guidelines.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
